Clockwork Research

Managing fatigue in Australia

November 26th, London

A team from Clockwork has just completed a 4-week project in Australia, where they conducted fatigue risk site assessments at two gold and copper mining operations.

Dr Paul Jackson and Dr Katharina Lederle were invited to undertake the assessment by Newmont Asia Pacific Region, part of the Newmont Mining company. The assessments, which took place at the company’s Tanami (NT) and Boddington (WA) sites, involved conducting interviews with management, supervisors and operatives working in various parts of the operation, and the development of a fatigue management plan for the site management to implement.

A key feature of this work is the assessment of the site’s compliance against the Newmont Standard on Fatigue Risk Management.

The project is part of a major fatigue management initiative by the Denver, Colorado-based mining company. Clockwork Research has been contracted to undertake similar assessments at Newmont operations in South America, Indonesia, New Zealand and Africa.
