Clockwork Research

Managing fatigue in Indonesia

October 13th, London

A team from Clockwork has just returned from a 2-week project in Indonesia, where they conducted a fatigue risk site assessment of a copper mining operation.

Dr Paul Jackson and Dr Katharina Lederle were invited to undertake the assessment by PT NNT, the Indonesian arm of the Newmont Mining company. The assessment, which took place at the company’s Batu Hijau site on the island of Sumbawa, involved conducting interviews with management, supervisors and operatives working in various parts of the operation, and the development of a fatigue management plan for the site management to implement.

The project is part of a major fatigue management initiative by the Denver, Colorado-based mining company. Clockwork Research has been contracted to undertake similar assessments at Newmont operations in South America, Australasia and Africa.
