Clockwork Research

Computer-based training

Training to raise awareness of the consequences of fatigue and the effective countermeasures crew can implement both at home and at work is a key element of an organisation’s management of fatigue. Computer-based training offers an effective way of delivering this training to a dispersed workforce.

An effective training programme also provides an opportunity to introduce employees to the company fatigue management procedures: setting out the company fatigue policy, describing the responsibilities of the company and of the individual with regard to managing fatigue, and explaining new processes and procedures that are being introduced as part of the FRMS. Computer-based training (including e-learning or online training) is also an excellent way to supplement classroom sessions given by CRM instructors, and ensures that essential information such as policies and procedures are delivered to a large, distributed workforce in a consistent, standardised manner.

Clockwork Fatigue and Alertness Management Training programmes are designed to ensure compliance with ICAO, IATA, EASA (ORO.FTL.250) and any local regulatory requirements. These programmes also conform to SCORM 1.2 and SCORM 2004, the international industry standards for delivering e-learning.

Clockwork Research follows a structured approach for the development and delivery of bespoke computer-based training.  The first step is to fully understand your requirements and audience.  Content and storyboard development will ensure that the final product is pertinent to your operation and will be delivered in a style and format that your staff will find engaging.

All products are designed to be hosted on your company Learning Management System (LMS) and include topics such as:

  • Introduction to Fatigue Risk Management
  • Workforce and management responsibilities for managing fatigue
  • Causes and consequences of fatigue
  • Sleep, sleep loss and the body clock
  • Fatigue countermeasures
  • Identifying fatigue
  • Reporting fatigue
  • Common sleep disorders
  • Diet and nutrition
  • Health and wellbeing.

For those clients that do not have a LMS, Clockwork Research are able to host the training and provide monthly updates on student progress.

Titan Airways engaged with Clockwork to assist in the development of training to meet both the regulatory needs of EASA-FTL and the unique fatigue management challenges that we face in an ad-hoc operating environment. Clockwork’s approach to the task was methodical and also sympathetic to the diverse operation types we have. The communication from the Clockwork team was excellent throughout the project including ongoing support after release. The final training product truly combined the theoretical and practical aspects of fatigue management with the Titan operating environment and quote
