An Introduction to FRMS

In conjunction with the Joint Aviation Authorities Training Organisation (JAA-TO) Clockwork delivers the course ‘An Introduction to Fatigue Risk Management Systems’. Designed for aviation managers wishing to set up an FRMS, as well as representatives of State regulatory authorities charged with the task of approving and auditing FRMS, the course conforms fully with the ICAO SARPs for Fatigue Management. The course uses a range of case studies and practical exercises to explain the recommended practices set out by ICAO. For Regulators there is the option of a third day which focuses on the FRMS approval process.

The training provides attendees with an understanding of the rationale behind FRMS as well as the tools and abilities needed to begin development of an FRMS, or to actively regulate and advise the FRMS implementation process. Topics covered include:

  • What is fatigue risk? Examining the causes, consequences and costs of fatigue.
  • What are the advantages of FRMS over prescriptive limits?
  • ICAO SARPs for Fatigue Management – what do they mean for you?
  • How to identify and measure fatigue risk
  • Effective mitigation strategies
  • How to manage fatigue risk
  • How to develop and roll out a fatigue training programme
